Our Story
Martial Arts With a Mission
Founded in 2014 by Shiva Boecker — a martial artist who knows firsthand what it changes
How We Got Here
Rockstar Martial Arts was founded in 2014 by Shiva Boecker — not because she wanted to open a gym, but because she knew what martial arts could do for a child. As a teenager, her own life was transformed through training. She experienced firsthand how it built confidence, discipline, resilience, and self-belief. Years later, she saw those same challenges in the children around her — the shy kid who couldn't find their voice, the one who lacked confidence, the one who just needed someone to believe in them.
Rockstar was built for that child. From day one, the mission was to develop the whole child — not just teach physical techniques.
While Rockstar was Shiva's vision, she had a tremendous resource by her side. Her husband, James Boecker, had spent decades in the martial arts industry, successfully owning and operating multiple schools before selling his previous organization in 2013. As Rockstar gained momentum, James officially joined the ownership team — bringing his experience in instruction, leadership development, and school operations as they expanded to a second location and beyond.
Today, Rockstar serves families across five North Texas locations. Students walk in shy and hesitant. They walk out standing taller, speaking with confidence, and taking pride in who they're becoming. That transformation is still the whole point.
What We Stand For
The Rockstar Standard
We Teach Leadership
Most schools teach martial arts. We teach leadership. You'll see older students mentoring younger ones, instructors teaching life lessons alongside technique, and a culture built around who students are becoming — not just what they can do on the mat.
Built for the Child Who Needs It Most
Rockstar was founded for the shy kid, the one who lacks confidence, the one who just needs someone to believe in them. Every class, every coach, every program is built around that child.
Real Results, Off the Mat
After six months at Rockstar, parents notice changes that go far beyond the gym: better focus at school, more confidence in social situations, greater respect at home, and the ability to handle challenges with calm and composure.
